Question by Liam Rules: Why is it called a baby bunting costume?
I searched and found out that bunting is cloth decorated with the national colors or A Plain, Drapey, Loosely Woven Fabric Most Often Used For Flags And Decoration.
So why do they call baby costumes bunting? Most have nothing to do with the national colours OR isnt necessarily loosely woven fabric is it?

It’s from a nursery rhyme. From the context of the poem, Bunting is the child’s last name.
Bye, baby bunting,
Father’s gone a-hunting,
Mother’s gone a-milking,
Sister’s gone a-silking,
And brother’s gone to buy a skin

Bunting 3rd definition is like a sleeping bag for babies, I had one of these 25 years ago. The are very convenient and comfortable for the baby if you live in a cold climate.
